Chickens are by far the easiest animal to raise and upkeep on a smallholding, with a few of these lovely birds being enough to generate eggs for your family, a larger flock of a few dozen or more could be enough to give you a small egg business. Chickens love food scraps and of course, chicken foods and are very easy to look after. You will need to ensure that your chicken flock is adequately protected from predators though (foxes etc) with proper fencing installed and a chicken coop or hut for the night time to keep them safe and give them somewhere to lay their eggs.
